Aim & Trackplan:

CAD Drawing by David Lane, Photos by Anthony Meadv

Saffron Street retired from the exhibition circuit at Railex on the 23rd and 24th May 2009. Since then and up to 2015 work had commenced on a smaller version of Aylesbury Town which just included the platform area and engine shed, but it was decided that after many lessons learnt, that a bigger version was going to be built. This has resulted in a scale model of Aylesbury Town as shown on the plan below. This will be a roundy roundy layout which also means that the stock gets minimal handling and would give a great deal more interest to the operator and viewer. The layout will be 32' by 12' including fiddle yard, set in the BR Era of the 1950s/60s, and will allow a mix of stock from the GC, Metropolitan, LNER, GW, BR etc, with both through trains and stopping services (north & south), and local trains for Amersham, plus branch trains to Princes Risborough
