The Club 2011 Photographic Competition took place on Friday the 21st October, when invited guest judge Geoff Plumb came along to pick the winners from the categories below and to come up with the overall winner. Geoff has been taking railway photographs since the 1960s, and continues to take photos of today's railway scene, while before he retired his day job was a TV cameraman. For the 2011 competition it was decided that club members could enter any picture taken after January 1st 2005. Geoff has a website Plumb Loco which shows some of his many photos.

Prototype Atmospheric: Photo taken by Russell Burridge. “Last winter's early December snowfalls even caught-out the normally efficient Germans, and the metre-gauge line from Drie Annen Hohne (junction with the Harz Railway 'mainline' from Wernigerode to Nordhausen) to the 3,700 foot summit of the Brocken mountain had only re-opened that afternoon, Monday 6th December 2010. The photo was taken at the passing-loop station at Schierke on the return journey just as the winter sun was setting. The locomotive is an 0-4-4-0T Mallet, number 99 5901, which is always popular with visiting railtour groups.”
