Aylesbury LNWR

Originally a loft layout, this is the second attempt by Geoff and was modelled in the early 70s’. The layout depicts the whole of the station complex with engine shed, goods yard and gas works. The railway is set amongst the back drop of the town and has been created with meticulous attention to detail and research. The scenic side features cunning use of decreasing perspective modelling to achieve a greater sense of depth. The club acquired the layout from Geoff’s son and have w…

This is a small O16.5 layout originally built by David Simmonite but now owned by R&DMRC. We have done a little refurbishment due to the time it has spent in storage. We have added the cars and a couple of people and will clean & repair the backscene next. We have been running this in the museum at Quainton and at club events.

Photographs by Anthony Mead

It was evident that whatever was going to be built would have to be achieved at absolute minimal cost. As the Club was already in possession of two baseboards that were unused prototypes for the Aylesbury Town layout, each 1.5m x 0.75m, it was thought that one of these could be used and was of a size that could sit on top of one of the folding tables, thus avoiding the addition of legs. However, it was decided, after much discussion, that the layout …
